During his parole time he spent days with friends near a small town in Northern California and returned at night to custody. While on parole he spoke at the Mind States II conference held in May 2001 in Berkeley. By 2004 he had been given a greater degree of liberty, but was still not entirely free. Currently (2007) all restrictions have been lifted and he is free to travel anywhere.
